LAKE ERIE STORM SIEGE THANKSGIVING 2025 GROSSE ILE, MI
Unusually low water levels on the Detroit River today. This drop is caused by a combination of seasonal patterns and a wind-driven Lake Erie seiche, which pushes water away from the western shoreline and exposes areas that are normally underwater. We see this a few times a year, especially in late fall and winter, but today’s level is noticeably extreme. It’s always interesting how quickly the river can rise or fall depending on wind direction and pressure changes.

Record Store Day | April 12, 2025 – SlickDisc, Trenton, Michigan
Record Store Day 2025 at SlickDisc in Trenton was another strong reminder of why independent record stores matter. From early-morning lines to steady foot traffic throughout the day, music lovers showed up to support vinyl culture, local business, and the shared experience that only a neighborhood record shop can offer. This aerial look captures the energy around SlickDisc as the community gathered to celebrate music, collect exclusive releases, and keep a long-standing Trenton institution thriving. A great day for vinyl, local commerce, and the people who make it all happen.
Drone video provides a unique way to document public and special events by capturing the full scope, atmosphere, and flow of the occasion from above, creating a clear and compelling visual record that complements ground-level coverage.
The Find Your Way Home Swim is a meaningful 10-kilometer open water swim held annually at Grosse Ile, Michigan, starting at the Grosse Ile Yacht Club and finishing at the Detroit River Lighthouse on Lake Erie. It brings together dedicated swimmers for a challenging and inspiring event that benefits a larger cause.
This swim is organized to support The Step Up Foundation, a nonprofit focused on veteran mental health and suicide prevention, raising awareness and funds to help veterans and their families. Many participants view the event as both a personal athletic challenge and a way to honor service, reflect on experiences, and promote community unity.
In 2024, the swim continued into its second year, drawing swimmers from the community to take on the open water route from Grosse Ile Yacht Club to the Detroit River Lighthouse in support of veteran brain health research and suicide prevention efforts.
The event also typically features additional activities like a post-swim gathering or after-party at the yacht club, complete with food, drinks, and live entertainment, making it both an athletic challenge and a community celebration.
